Real Wood vs. Faux Wood Blinds

Hunter Douglas Real Wood Blinds
Real wood blinds are the Rolls Royce of the blinds universe. These blinds look great on any window, especially those with stained woodwork. Real wood exhibits a warmth that is difficult to describe, but easy to detect when not present. Additionally, these blinds typically weigh less, which makes raising and lowering the blinds a simple task (as opposed to the body-building exercise that results from some large faux wood blinds). Unfortunately, wood blinds are somewhat more fragile than their faux counterparts. Rooms frequented by young children or windows that are low enough to permit pet mischief to ensue, should avoid real wood. Also, if there is a great deal of moisture present in your home, or in a specific room such as a bathroom, real wood blinds will not hold up well as they tend to warp under these conditions. At the end of the day though, the biggest negative associated with real wood blinds for many people is the cost. There is great news though for those of you looking to save money, recently faux wood blinds have grown from a cheaply made alternative to a true competitor to real wood blinds. Let’s move on to the work horse of the blinds industry, faux wood blinds.
