Solar shades are quickly becoming a popular window treatment. These shades provide a very simple and modern look. We get a lot of questions about solar shades here at BlindFINDER HQ, so we’ll take a moment to explain the basics of this window treatment. Think of the shade as a non-permanent form of tinting your windows. Solar shades function like roller shades and essentially form a filter, just as tinting does, which reduces the amount of heat and sunlight that enters your home. Similar to tinting, you can still see out your windows with the shades down, but harmful elements such as UV rays can’t enter (not all solar shades block UV so check around). From the photo it is probably clear that these shades are not for everyone. While solar shades are very popular in situations where privacy isn’t a big concern, they may not be the best option in a one-story home on a densely populated street. If solar shades are of interest to you, take a look at our recent price survey to find the best deals on solar shades available online. If solar shades aren’t your cup of tea, take a look at our article on the most popular window treatments for other ideas.  Finally, don’t forget to check out our learning center for more window treatment tips.
